Gasco Story

Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO) was born in 1978, in the
heart of the United Arab Emirates – its capital Abu Dhabi – as an
answer to the vision of the late Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan
who believed in the sound utilization of the Emirate’s significant
gas resources.

The incorporation and establishment of GASCO as a joint venture
between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Shell,
Total, and Partex, and the integration of ATHEER (a wholly
owned ADNOC Company) in 2001, supported GASCO in
realizing the vision to be one of the most innovative, respected
and caring companies in the gas and hydrocarbon industry.

GASCO’s commitment in meeting the expectations of its various
stakeholders – shareholders, employees and community,
regulatory bodies and non governmental bodies, was recently
recognized through the renewal of the Joint Venture Agreement
originally signed in 1978.

The new Agreement, which is now set to run until September 30,
2028, will allow GASCO to hold the distinction of being one of
the major players in the global gas and hydrocarbons market,
conducting onshore gas processing and the transportation of gas
and liquid products, contributing to the GDP of the UAE in a
sustainable and responsible manner.

During the year 2010, 6 Mega Projects with total capital investments of about US$ 7.0 Billion (viz. Habshan 3 & 4, Ruwais Train 3, Asab 2, Offshore Associated Gases Package 2 & 3 and NGL Pipelines Replacement) have been completed successfully and are currently under operation, meeting the design throughputs and product specifications. Another project "Ruwais Sulphur Expansion – Phase 3 is nearing completion.

Currently 12 new EPC Projects with an estimated capital investment in excess of US$ 13 Billion are under various stages of execution. Once completed, GASCO will become one of the largest gas processing Companies in the world.

All projects progress through three distinct stages of implementation:

During the initial stage of the project, Techno-economic Feasibility Study (Pre-FEED) is carried out to determine the fundamental aspects of the project and to evaluate all possible options to select the optimum one. This is followed by the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) stage to perform the basic design, define fully the project scope and re-evaluate the project economics and seeking management approval to proceed to execute EPC Phase of the Project, before issuing the inquiries seeking competitive tenders for the EPC execution phase. The third stage is the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) stage, before handover of the installations to Operations. Each stage is followed by Shareholders' formal approval to move to the next Stage.
